CAKMAK DAM

Located in the Uzunköprü district of Edirne, the Çakmak Dam is a strategic water investment, dubbed the "Project of the Century," for the region's agricultural future. The dam is filled by transferring water from the Meriç River, whose flow rate increases especially during the winter months, and acts as an "insurance" for agricultural production in the region during the dry summer months.
Dam Type: Earth fill.
Dam Height: 46.00 meters from the riverbed.
Storage Capacity: Approximately 176 million m³.
Lake Area: 11.60 km².
